Your resume is your professional story. It's made up of your skills, experiences, and unique perspective. This story is continually shaped by your career choices and every decision you make builds your resume.
A Hollywood resume tells a premium story. At Hollywood Resumes, we tap into our expertise crafting narratives that resonate with global audiences to strategically communicate your story to hiring managers, clients, and partners. We help you showcase your undeniable value so you can stand out in a highly competitive field.
Hollywood Resumes was founded in 2016 by two professional storytellers. Angela Silak Vargas is a senior development executive who has shepherded top-rated and Emmy-winning TV, film, and digital projects for Nickelodeon, Apple, and YouTube. Cindy Kaplan is a writer/producer, narrative change expert, and former entertainment marketing executive who has spearheaded partnerships with Paramount, Disney, and other entertainment brands.
With Hollywood Resumes, your career story is in the right hands. As resume writers and career coaches, we primarily work with entertainment professionals, but in the evolving content landscape, we’ve expanded our work beyond traditional film and TV into other media forms and creative industries. In addition to working with job seekers, we support those building alternative career paths, like fractional executives, consultants, creatives, and entrepreneurs. We’re known for our ability to help clients navigate major career transitions, including supporting entertainment professionals seeking roles in other fields.
We are a small but mighty team of two career experts. When you work with Hollywood Resumes, you will be working with one or both of the company's founders. We do not outsource our resume writers or career coaches, and we never use AI to create your professional branding documents – we firmly believe in human creativity and that human-to-human connections matter most for your career success (though we do optimize all our materials for applicant tracking systems [ATS] and AI scanners).
Our approach is grounded in our relationships with our clients, and we believe each client we work with has a unique story to tell. We pride ourselves on our ability to adapt our services to align with our clients' goals. When you work with Hollywood Resumes, you will get highly customized support that’s tailored to you.
We offer resume, LinkedIn profile, professional bio, and cover letter writing services, career coaching, and comprehensive packages to help you navigate the entire job search process. Whether you’re seeking a lateral move, aiming to level up in your current career path, planning a transition to a new side of the entertainment industry, pivoting to a career outside of film and TV, pursuing entertainment as a second career, or breaking into the industry as a college student or recent grad, we will help you stand out in the competitive job market.
We leverage our training in communication, pitching, teaching, and conflict resolution to coach clients in all phases of their careers. We can help you prepare for salary and promotion negotiations, balance creative projects or side hustles with survival jobs, develop assistant skills, navigate workplace dynamics, and map out what's next in your "resume" story. Additionally, we work with executives to guide conversations with employees or partners, hone leadership brands, and translate expertise into entrepreneurial endeavors.
We work with networks, studios, streamers, universities, professional associations, pipeline programs, nonprofits, and other organizations to lead professional development workshops, deliver customized programs, provide outplacement services, and speak on panels. Past partners include Warner Bros. Discovery, Producers Guild of America, Hollywood Radio and Television Society (HRTS), Children's Media Association, National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), Duke University, Boston University, Emerson College, NYU, and more.
Hi, I’m Angela Silak Vargas! I’m a film and TV creative executive specializing in children's media. I'm the co-founder of The Kids' Table, a content company that helps brands expand into kids & family entertainment. Before launching The Kids' Table, I worked at Apple TV+, where I oversaw development and current series of live-action and animated preschool shows, including multiple Emmy-nominated series. Previously, I was a development executive at Nickelodeon, where I managed a slate of top-rated original movies and scripted series. I got my start in development on the unscripted side at 3 Ball Entertainment. I’m passionate about lifelong learning, and after graduating from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in History, I completed a Master of Communication Management degree from USC, and I also hold Master of Arts in Educational Studies from LMU.
Hi, I’m Cindy Kaplan! I’m a comedy writer and essayist, and I often focus on culture shifts and advocacy in my work. My credits include shorts for Disney Jr., Yahoo! Screen, VEVO, and Electus, and multiple documentaries for NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change. I’m also the Director of JITC Hollywood Bureau, a narrative change organization dedicated to promoting authentic representation of Jews in entertainment. Previously, I managed the Procter & Gamble account at Endeavor-owned agency Signal Entertainment Marketing and executed deals with Disney, Paramount, and other partners. Additionally, I'm a former adjunct faculty member of Long Beach City College's TV & Emerging Media department, and I've received group facilitation and conflict resolution training through NewGround.

"I had applied to over 200 roles before working with [Hollywood Resumes] with very little success. Since working with them, I have gotten multiple job offers. This is directly a result of how, through working with this company, I was able to organize and speak about my experience in a significantly more effective way."
"When I moved to LA, I applied to probably 50+ mid level jobs at studios and still was getting nil interviews. Hollywood Resumes was so helpful in rewording my resume and structuring it in a way that appeals to hiring managers. Literally the first job I applied to at a major studio using this resume quickly landed me a job offer!"
"I've worked in the 'industry' for 20+ years as a field, story and later development producer - basically making other peoples' stories come to life - on the creative side. Within a year, Cindy has helped me transition from working in the industry to being prepared to sell myself and my own shows."
"I'm a freelancer who had other careers before landing in my current industry. [Hollywood Resumes was] creative and able to really explain my work and make it pop. I also had them help me work on my Linkedin profile and it has made a huge difference with people now reaching out to me!"
"Amazing service and execution. Angela made sense of my decades of entertainment experience. She created a beautiful and concise resume for me with a speedy turnaround. The team is prompt and communicative and goes well above and beyond most resume services."
"Hollywood Resumes did an amazing job helping me create a new resume that reaches a more diverse hiring base. They found a creative way to highlight my various job responsibilities and skills despite working over twenty different freelance jobs."
